Hard to Get Gertie Lyrics

You lovin'champs, listen to this!
You've heard of vamps who never kiss;
I'm here to tell you 'bout a gal who beats 'em all.
Don't waste your time takin' her out;
I know shat I'm talkin' about.
She's just a teasin' gal that all the fellows call:
(1st chorus)
Hard to get Gertie, that hard to get gal.
Flirty and pretty, but nobody's pal.
She's got those kisses that are sweet as honey;
They're harder gettin' than a Scotchman's money.
Sufferin' papas!
She's certainly mean.
Stingiest mamma I have ever seen.
So save your time and save your dough,
All she says is "No! No! No!"
Hard to get Gertie,
that doggone hard to get gal!

(second verse)
It's hard to get snow in July;
It's hard to get genuine rye;
But gettin' Gertie is a job that's harder yet.
The greatest sheiks sadly confess They've tried for weeks without success,
The boys are calling her "The girl that men regret".
(second chorus)
Hard to get Gertie,
that hard to get gal.
Flirty and pretty,
but nobody's pal.
No use of doing anything to please her,
Her heart is colder than an ice cream freezer.
Mighty good lookin' Got plenty of charm.
I'm here to warn you She's a false alarm Outside her door she'll let you stand;
Her front hall is No Man's Land.
Hard to get Gertie, that doggone hard to get gal!
