Heartaches Lyrics

The doctor told me I'd get better in time
The pains in my chest won't drive me outta my mind
A little patience and I'll get over this one
Now even he would admit his diagnosis was wrong
'Cause here come those heartaches again
I've got a memory that's wearin' me thin
I'll have an IV of somethin' strong
'Cause I just might not have that long
'Cause here come those heartaches again
I see you will be checkin' me in
Doctor, give me just one more shot
There's no tellin' how long I've got
I'll need a bypass of anything I might feel
A big glass of pain killer
It might even seem like I'm here

But I won't bother tellin' my HMO
Cause every time I was dyin'
They kept letting me go
And here come those heartaches again
I've got a memory that's wearin' me thin
I'll have an IV of somethin' strong
'Cause I just might not have that long
'Cause here come those heartaches again
I see you will be checkin' me in
Doctor, give me just one more shot
There's no tellin' how long I've got
'Cause here come those heartaches again

By the age of twelve Thompson was playing private parties with Bennie Moten and his band in Colorado Springs.
