Heartbreak Kid Lyrics

Dusty wind blew 'cross the high plains
As the stranger rode into town
With a certain reputation
For the ladies and the gunWalked to the barstool casual
Just as easy as you please
He was bound to do some damage
With those Valentino eyesWell, the barmaid was an angel
And she looked so out of place
And she said her name was Sunset
She was different from the restAnd she couldn't help but notice
The moment he walked through the door
That the gunman was something special
And the bullet found it's scoreAnd the one mistake you make is just enough
And that one mistake is, boy, you talk too toughOnly takes a single bullet
To bring the fastest trigger down
Only takes a pretty woman
Put a gunman undergroundAnd you may hear the same old story
In every town, on every street

The story of Sunset
And the Heartbreak KidDirty rain soaked through the doorway
Of an upper westside bar
And the TV news was talking
To the crowd of people thereWell, the kid was always reckless
He said, "I never stay too long"
And when she knew that he would leave her
Sunset shot that gunman downAnd the one mistake you make was just enough
And that one mistake was, boy, you talk too toughOnly takes a single bullet
To bring the fastest trigger down
Only takes a pretty woman
Put a gunman undergroundAnd you may hear the same old story
In every town, on every street
The story of Sunset
And the Heartbreak KidThe story of Sunset
And the Heartbreak Kid

Australian new wave band Icehouse was formed in 1977, initially called 'Flowers', by Iva Davies (born Ivor Arthur Davies, on 22 May 1955, in Wauchope, New South Wales, Australia). Inspired by art rock and avant-garde pop, Davies was the main creative force behind the band, being a classically trained musician. Band member Keith Welsh joined him on bass. For a number of years they also obtained the services of Bob Kretschmer, until he was replaced by young guitarist Paul Gildea.
