No Promises Lyrics

A winter palace
From the Arabian Nights
White waves on an ocean
Gems from a golden ageLife in your new world
Turning round and round
Making some sense
Where there's no sense at allNo promises
But if you should fallStars die in the silence
Of Arabian Nights
Wind washes the seasons
In these days of a golden ageLife in your new world
Turning round and round
Making some sense
Where there's no sense at allNo promises
But if you should fallI could give you more
Than just the shape of things
Break every word
Begin it all againYour name on a white sheet

Pure lace shot with passion
But as love lies
Bleeding in your handsHeaven sends you
No promises of Arabian Nights
No white waves on an ocean
No gems from a golden ageLife in your new world
Turning round and round
So make some sense
Where there's no sense at allI give you no promises
But if you should fall
No promises
But if you should fallYou fall, no promises
But if you should fall
No promises
But if you should fallYou fallLife in your new world
As it turns round and round
No promises
But if you should fall

Australian new wave band Icehouse was formed in 1977, initially called 'Flowers', by Iva Davies (born Ivor Arthur Davies, on 22 May 1955, in Wauchope, New South Wales, Australia). Inspired by art rock and avant-garde pop, Davies was the main creative force behind the band, being a classically trained musician. Band member Keith Welsh joined him on bass. For a number of years they also obtained the services of Bob Kretschmer, until he was replaced by young guitarist Paul Gildea.
