Hot House Lyrics

I'd walk miles and miles on this nowhere road
Just to see you again but I think you know
Don't you wish we could just keep the night away
Shine forever and love 'till we're old and greyI once had a reason to live and sing
Watched her vanish away with the winter's wind
I was looking for something that time wouldn't break
Found that everything dies with each breath we takeCan someone wake me up inside
Light the fire in my eyes
Can someone make it all alright
Cause I'm waiting tonight
I guess hope's a ladder up to the sky
From which I fell off bad and I don't know why
But the world doesn't hate you my old man said
It just doesn't care if you're alive or deadNow the place that I once loved and felt like home
Left me nothing but pain and a heart of stone
When the smoke clears, my love, don't you fear for me
In my grave under the ground I'll be good and freeCan someone wake me up inside
Light the fire in my eyes

Can someone make it all alright
Cause I'm waiting tonight
Can someone wake me up inside
Light the fire in my eyes
Can someone make it all alright
Cause I'm leaving tonight

Earl Rudolph "Bud" Powell (September 27, 1924 – July 31, 1966) was one of the most influential pianists in the history of jazz. Along with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie he was instrumental in the development of bebop, and his virtuosity as a pianist led many to call him "the Charlie Parker of the piano". Powell was perhaps the first pianist to vocalize on the piano, meaning that he transfered his vocalized improvisations directly through his hands to the instrument. This gave his music a deep connection to time, which is an artifact of the human voice.
