It Could Happen to You Lyrics

Hide your heart from sight
Lock your dreams at night
It could happen to youDon't count stars
Or you might stumble
Someone drops a sigh
And down you'll tumbleKeep an eye on spring
Run when church bells ring
It could happen to youAll I did was wonder
How your arms would be
And it happened to meHide your heart from sight
Lock your dreams at night
It could happen to youDon't count stars
Or you might stumble
Someone drops a sigh
And down you'll tumbleKeep an eye on spring
Run when church bells ring
It could happen to youAll I did was wonder
How your arms could be

And it happened, and it happened
And it happened to me

Earl Rudolph "Bud" Powell (September 27, 1924 – July 31, 1966) was one of the most influential pianists in the history of jazz. Along with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie he was instrumental in the development of bebop, and his virtuosity as a pianist led many to call him "the Charlie Parker of the piano". Powell was perhaps the first pianist to vocalize on the piano, meaning that he transfered his vocalized improvisations directly through his hands to the instrument. This gave his music a deep connection to time, which is an artifact of the human voice.
