How Indiscreet Lyrics

I saw you last night
My, my how indiscreet
Your self destruction is so complete
Oh yeah, and I know, yeah, I know
That shes going down slowIt was this morning that you phoned
You sound strung out, babe, but so high toned
Yeah Lord, and I know, yeah, I know
That shes going down slowYoure the article babe, youre the genuine thing
And when that guy comes by with his diamond ring
It doesnt feel right and you tell him so
So you buy your tickets home
And youre going down slow
And shes going down slowI saw you last night, how indiscreet
Your self destruction is so complete
Oh yeah, yeah, I know
Yeah, I know, yeah, I know
That shes going down slowIt was this morning that you phoned
You sound strung out, babe, but so high toned

Yes, I know, yes, I know, yeah
That shes going down slowWait a minute, whats this?
Were losing altitude hand over fistAnd shes going down fast
Yes, shes going down fast
Shes going down fast
[Incomprehensible] shes going down slow
[Incomprehensible] shes going down fast[Incomprehensible]

Forget the violin. Forget the classical background. As troubadour Andrew Bird puts it, “At this point the violin just happens to be the instrument I have on hand to make the sounds that I hear. I like to abuse it and pull as many sounds out of it as I can.” Bird is a masterful and intuitive singer / songwriter, and what he does while performing—alternately plucking and bowing his violin, then immediately sampling the results, layering the sounds with guitar, whistling, glockenspiel and vocals—bears little resemblance to what most people might expect.
