I See Me Lyrics

How he got that GI Joe in the church this morning
I don't know but he ain't listening to the preacher
Like his mama taught him to
She's wanting me to cross the aisle go, sit over there with him awhile
Make him turn around and sit up straight
Stop playing in the pew
To watch him is all that I can do'Cause I look at him and I see a boy
And I see trouble and I see joy
I see innocence and headstrong
And a heart full of dreams
And I look at him and I'm so amazed
I'm so proud and then so afraid
That the apple didn't fall quite far enough from the tree
Yeah I look at him and I see meAlready says when he grows up, he's gonna have a big ole truck
And I can see him getting stuck on some private property
He'll take chances, he'll take dare's
And keep his mama and me scared to death
When he goes out at night you know I'll bet we'll never sleep

I guess I get what my dad got from me'Cause I look at him and I see a teen
Having fun doing stupid things
I see roadblocks I see mistakes
I see heartbreak he can't see
I look at him and I'm so amazed
I'm so proud and then so afraid
That the apple didn't fall quite far enough from the tree
Oh I look at him and I see meI look at him and I see me
Breaking down one day
As he packs up all his things
To move away
I look at him and I'm so amazed
And I'm so proud and then so afraid
That the apple didn't fall quite far enough from the tree
Yeah I look at him and I see me

James Travis Tritt (born February 9, 1963) is an American country music singer. He now resides in Hiram, Georgia off Travis Tritt Highway.

Tritt was born in Marietta, Georgia to James and Gwen Tritt. At age 3, he received his first guitar from his father. By 22, he had been through two divorces and had committed himself entirely to his music career. He has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1992. Today, he and wife Theresa have three children: Tyler Reese (born February 18, 1998), Tristan James (born June 16, 1999) and Terian Nathaniel (born November 20, 2003).

His breakthrough came with his first album, Country Club, from which three singles were released, as well as his first No. 1 hit with "Help Me Hold On". His second album, It's All About To Change, produced two top 3 hits including: "Anymore", "The Whiskey Ain't Workin'", and "Here's A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)". The song "Bible Belt" was used in the movie, My Cousin Vinny, and, for which, he composed alternate lyrics exclusively for the use of the film.

Tritt has released a trilogy of music videos describing the tale of two paralyzed war veterans: Mac Singleton and his friend Al. In the video for "Tell Me I was Dreaming", Tritt plays Singleton, a wheelchair bound veteran who tries to rescue his pregnant wife Annie from slipping off a boat, subsequently hitting her head on the side of the dock. She dies, but their baby, Annie, survives. The third video shows what happened with Singleton and his daughter after the second video.

Tritt's latest album, My Honky Tonk History, showcases a wide range of styles, from love ballads to energetic footstompers.
