I Was Not to You What You Were to Me Lyrics

I drink my coffee
And watch the rain fall
I let the days crawl by
I lost my purpose
To the shadows
The night we said goodbye
I was not to you what you were to me
Rotten apples
Are falling from the trees
And I will never learn
Autumn came
When you departed
Summer crashed and burned

I was not to you what you were to me
I miss your weird eyes
Your curly hair
Your dirty sweet delights
We held each other close
At the "Avion"
Those lazy Brno-nights
But I was not to you what you were to me
I'm not a fool
I know it's over
And that's a bitter pill
Between the jaws of night
Where darkness eats the light
I'm dreaming of you still
I was not to you what you were to me

Andi Almqvist is a multi talented Swedish musician and artist. He was born in Vienna and due to his father's work lived in many different places in his childhood, like the US, the Soviet Union and several eastern- and western European countries.

Influenced by "the raw energy of Pixies, Nirvana and 16 Horsepower, the poetry of Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, and the angst of Depeche Mode and Skip James" Andi has over the last years created his own musical voice. In the past he has been the singer for a number of punk and rock bands, and in 2005 he released his first solo album; "Can't Stop Laughing". While his debut album was very raw and down to the core; vocals, guitars and drums recorded in three days of studio time, his second album "Red Room Stories" (2007) is more cinematic and haunting, a bigger and heavier sound with Sara Jefta on violins and guest musicians from “Moonbabies” and “Sobsister”.
