If You Could See Me Now Lyrics

My soul is alive and so are you
Helps when trying to pass the time
It ain't easy without you
As long as I can try, I'll make it through
But it might take awhile
Believe me if you only knew
If you, if you, could see me now
If you, if you, could see me now
If only you, if you, could see me now
And is this what you want for me to feel?
Or am I going out of my mind? What Is real?
Stay by my side, so I can live
And I will be alright, don't leave me
If you, if you, could see me now
If you, if you, could see me now
If you, if you, could see me now
If only you, if you, could see me now
(Then you'd understand who I really am)

If only you, if you, could see me now
(You never questioned me, if you could only see)
And is this what you want for me to feel?
And is this what you want?
Is this what you want? Is this what you need?
Is this what you want? Is this what you need?
If you, if you, could see me now
(If I could see you)
If you, if you, could see me now
(If I could see you)
If only you, if you, could see me now
(Then you'd understand who I really am)
(If I could see you)
If only you, if you, could see me now
(You never questioned me, if you could only see)
(If I could see you)

This was a pairing of Miles Davis' rhythm section, Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass) and Jimmy Cobb (drums) with Wes Montgomery (guitar). They only recorded one album, Smokin' at the Half Note released in 1965.

Although Montgomery had performed numerous times previously with Kelly, he began his association with the Wynton Kelly Trio in the summer of 1965. Together they toured the major jazz clubs in the US and also appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival on the afternoon of Sunday, 4 July. Drummer Jimmy Cobb had previously toured briefly with Montgomery in an organ trio with Melvin Rhyne in 1963.[1] The trio of Kelly, Cobb and bassist Paul Chambers had already appeared on other Montgomery albums for Riverside Records such as Bags Meets Wes and Full House.
