I'm Trying Lyrics

If I don't love you like you want me to do
Baby, I'm trying, I'm trying
And if I'm not fair when you need talking to
Baby, I'm trying, I'm tryingEveryday in the week
I mean seven days
Just to love you in so many ways
I'm trying baby, can't you see I'm tryingAnd if I don't please ya and give you all you need
Baby, I'm trying, I'm trying
You know you mean the whole world to me
And that's what keeps me trying, I'm tryingI may not provide all your kids I will do
But deep down in my soul
That's what I want to do
I'm trying, yeah baby, can't you see I'm tryingNo stumbling blocks can block my plan
Whatever I got I'll run and give you half
And in the world if I don't succeed
Baby, I'd be rather be, you and meIf I don't love you like you want me to do
Baby, I'm trying, I'm trying
And if I'm not fair when you need talking to

Baby, I'm trying, I'm tryingI may not provide all your kids I will do
But deep down in my soul
That's what I want to do
I keep on trying, baby, can't you see I'm trying
Oh yes I am, girlI'm trying, Lord have mercy
Can't you see that I am trying
Everyday when I get up and go to work
I'm trying, trying to make you happy

Johnnie Harrison Taylor (born May 5, 1937, Crawfordsville, Arkansas; died May 31, 2000, Dallas, Texas) was an American musician that sang in a wide variety of genres, including blues, disco, gospel, pop, and soul. Often using an energetic, belting delivery, he's perhaps best known for his work for the iconic Stax/Volt label, particularly with southern soul classics such as "Who's Making Love" and "Jody's Got Your Girl and Gone" in which he held his own against friendly rivals such as Otis Redding and Sam & Dave.
