In a Mellow Tone Lyrics

In a mellow tone
Feeling fancy free
And I'm not alone
I've got companyEverything's OK
The live long day
With this mellow song
I can't go wrongIn a mellow tone
That's the way to live
If you mope and groan
Something's gotta giveJust go your way
And laugh and play
There's joy unknown
In a mellow toneIn a mellow toneIn a mellow tone
Feeling fancy free
And I'm not alone
I've got companyEverything's OK
The live long day
With this mellow song

I can't go wrongIn a mellow tone
That's the way to live
If you mope and groan
Something's gotta giveJust go your way
And laugh and play
There's joy unknown
In a mellow tone
In a mellow tone
In a mellow tone

Coleman Randolph Hawkins (November 21, 1904 – May 19, 1969), nicknamed Hawk and sometimes "Bean", was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. While Hawkins is strongly associated with the swing music and big band era, he had a role in the development of bebop in the 1940s.
Fellow saxophonist Lester Young, known as "Pres", commented in a 1959 interview with The Jazz Review: "As far as I'm concerned, I think Coleman Hawkins was the President first, right? As far as myself, I think I'm the second one." Miles Davis once said: "When I heard Hawk, I learned to play ballads."
