Indigo Sky Lyrics

We went as we know how
As far as the wind and the sky would allow
Waking from sleep
Alive to the noise we cameAfter the turn of the year
With only the sky as a silver seer
Of anything restively turning
And slowly beginningNow even the weatherman's smiling
He never could see it this good
Why are we so afraid?
That under the indigo sky
We'll sing, we'll drink and we'll cryAfter the falling apart
After the noise and the guilt and the hurt
We woke from sleep
And saw that it wasn't a dreamWas it a trick of the light?
That there in the spirit damned demon night
We lit a fire
And only crowded around itNow even the weatherman's smiling
He never could see it this good

Why are we sore afraid?
That under the indigo sky
We lay down and we diedUnder the indigo sky
We lay down and we died

Deacon Blue is a Scottish pop band formed in Glasgow in 1985. Their name came from the title of the Steely Dan song "Deacon Blues". Success came for the band in 1989 when their second studio album, When The World Knows Your Name, topped the UK Album Charts. The album included "Real Gone Kid" which became their first UK top ten single. After releasing further albums in 1991 and 1993, they split up in 1994. Five years later, in 1999, the band held a reunion gig and this led to the album, Walking Back Home. Since then they have released Homesick (2001) and The Hipsters (2012).
