It Ain't Me Babe Lyrics

Go away from my window, leave at your own chosen speed
I'm not the one you want, babe, I'm not the one you need
You say you're lookin' for someone who's never weak but always strong
To protect you and defend you, whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every doorBut it ain't me, babe, no, no, no
It ain't me, babe, it ain't me you're looking forGo lightly from the ledge, babe, go lightly on the ground
I'm not the one you want, babe, I'd only let you down
You say you're lookin' for someone who will promise never to part
Someome to close his eyes for you, someone to close his heart
Someone to die for you and moreBut it ain't me, babe, no, no, no
It ain't me, babe, it ain't me you're looking forGo melt back in the night, babe, 'cause everything inside is made of stone
There's nothin' in here moving and anyway I'm not alone
You say you're lookin' for someone to pick you up each time you fall
To gather flowers constantly and to come each time you call
A lover for your life and nothing moreBut it ain't me, babe, no, no, no
It ain't me, babe, no, no, no
It ain't me, babe, it ain't me you're looking forOh, it ain't me, babe, no, no, no
It ain't me, babe, it ain't me you're looking for, babe

The trio Peter, Paul and Mary (often PP&M) is an American musical group that was one of the most successful folk-singing groups of the 1960s. The trio comprises Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. The group was created by manager Albert Grossman, who sought to create a folk "supergroup" by bringing together "a tall blonde (Travers), a funny guy (Stookey), and a good looking guy (Yarrow)." He launched the group in 1961, booking them into the Bitter End, a coffee house in New York City's Greenwich Village that was a favorite place to hear folk artists.
