It Didn't Matter Lyrics

I remember all the early days
Trying to think of the right things to say
I didn't want you to think I was like the rest
Who think they own you just
Because you've laid with them?It didn't matter, really didn't matter, oh
It didn't matter, now we are togetherThere are crystal hearts just waiting to be smashed
And out to break them are the ones who never last
Too soon today and gone tomorrow
And taking with them just another little piece of youYou know that it didn't matter, oh
It didn't matter, now we are together
You know that it didn't matter, oh
It didn't matter, now we are togetherThere are those who think it's smart
Thinking that they stole your love and broke your heart
Too much, too soon and gone tomorrow
Well, my love doesn't need to lend, or steal, or borrowIt didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matterReally didn't matter, it didn't matter

You know that it didn't matter, oh
It didn't matter, really, really didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, really, really didn't matterIt didn't matter
Too soon today and gone tomorrow
You know that it didn't matter
And taking with them just another little piece of youIt didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
I know now, I know now
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matterIt didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
I know now, I know now
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
It didn't matter, you know that it didn't matter
I know now, I know now

The Style Council were an English musical group formed in 1983 by ex-The Jam singer and guitarist Paul Weller with keyboardist Mick Talbot. The permanent lineup grew to include drummer Steve White and Weller's then-wife, vocalist Dee C. Lee. Other artists such as Tracie Young and Tracey Thorn (Everything But the Girl) also collaborated with the group. The band showed a diversity of musical styles. Singles "Speak Like a Child" (with its loud soul-influenced style), the extended funk of "Money-Go-Round", and the haunting synth-ballad "Long Hot Summer" all featured Talbot on keyboards and organ.
