Walls Come Tumbling Down Lyrics

You don't have to take this crap
You don't have to sit back and relax
You can actually try changin' itI know we've always been taught to rely
Upon those in authority
But you never know until you try
How things just might be
If we came together so stronglyAre you gonna try to make this work?
Or spend your days down in the dirt
You see, things can change
Yes, an walls come tumbling downGovernments crack and systems fall
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling down
Yes they do, yes they do, yes they doThe competition is a colour TV
We're on still pause
With a video machine
That keep you slave to the H PUntil the unity is threatened by
Those who have and who have not
Those who are with and those who are without

And dangle jobs, like a donkey's carrot
Until you don't know where you areAre you gonna get to realise
The class war's real and not mythologised
And like Jericho
Yes, walls can come tumbling downGovernments crack and systems fall
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling down
Down! We'll be too weak to fight it.
Down! Not if we're united
Down! When you're unitedAre you gonna be threatened by?
The public enemies, No 10
Those who play the power game
They take the profits, you take the blame
When they tell you there's no rise in payAre you gonna try to make this work?
Or spend your days down in the dirt
You see, things can change
Walls can come tumbling downGovernments crack and systems fall
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling downGovernments crack and systems fall
Yes they do
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling downGovernments crack and systems fall
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling downGovernments crack and systems fall
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling down

The Style Council were an English musical group formed in 1983 by ex-The Jam singer and guitarist Paul Weller with keyboardist Mick Talbot. The permanent lineup grew to include drummer Steve White and Weller's then-wife, vocalist Dee C. Lee. Other artists such as Tracie Young and Tracey Thorn (Everything But the Girl) also collaborated with the group. The band showed a diversity of musical styles. Singles "Speak Like a Child" (with its loud soul-influenced style), the extended funk of "Money-Go-Round", and the haunting synth-ballad "Long Hot Summer" all featured Talbot on keyboards and organ.
