It's Not the Same Lyrics

If I could control my heart and soul
I wouldn't have to say
How they're telling and compelling me
To put this on the table
It's not the same when you call
I don't feel it like I used to
It's like you're running there behind me
So watch me go on ahead
And before you know, you'll be
Trying hard to find me, I'm sorry
I'm so sorry
I've become who I wanted to
But, you won't do the same
When you whisper softly, your words bounce off me
And I'm like, "You're waiting there in vain."

It's not the same when you call
I don't feel it at all
And now I don't know what to say
When your shadow and mine
Don't link up anymore
I'm like, I'm speechless now
You can't change the time of the falling rain
It comes and it goes, are you listening
We can change our minds, but our hearts remain
It's beautiful, but not today (2x)
If I could control my heart and my soul
I wouldn't have to say
How they're telling and compelling me
To put this on the table
I'm sorry....

There are at least three artists called The Bats: Approaching a quarter century of recording and performing, Christchurch, New Zealand's The Bats have survived seven albums and five world tours with the original line-up of Kaye Woodward, Malcolm Grant, Paul Kean and Robert Scott intact. With a sound at the jangle/indie end of the pop spectrum, the band made significant headway in the States in the 80s alongside Flying Nun label-mates The Chills and The Clean. The 90s saw tours of the US and Europe, supporting the likes of Radiohead, Belly, and R.
