It's Only 'Cause You're Lonely Lyrics

(clay blaker/jim lauderdale)
(track 1 - time 2:46)It's only 'cause you're lonely, that you're wanting me
I'm just a way to get you through your misery
You don't need my love, I know you'll let me down
It's only 'cause you're lonely that you're comin' 'roundGirl, you're telling me
That he set you free
But that's nothing new
To a heart that's never true
What makes you think you can come running back so easilyIt's only 'cause you're lonely, that you're wanting me
I'm just a way to get you through your misery
You don't need my love, I know you'll let me down
It's only 'cause you're lonely that you're comin' 'roundYou say it just ain't right
To sleep alone at night
And how much you have missed
A lover's tender kissWhen will you understand my heart is free at lastIt's only 'cause you're lonely, that you're wanting me
I'm just a way to get you through your misery
You don't need my love, I know you'll let me down
It's only 'cause you're lonely that you're comin' 'round

It's only 'cause you're lonely that you're comin' 'round

Dallas-born to a family who loved music, Deryl Dodd grew up on gospel, bluegrass, country and rootsy rock and roll. He was heavily influenced by the soulful southern music at the Hasse Revival Center where his grandfather was pastor of the small town Pentecostal church. Deryl's first performances were there, singing harmony with his three siblings. Guitar at age seven, banjo at thirteen, pedal steel at sixteen - the young Dodd's hands nearly always gripped a stringed instrument.
