It's a Raggy Waltz Lyrics

Well, you have been kind and I know it seems hopeless
You smooth the ground, tear the knots all apart
You're helping me move from the inside to the outside
You're trying so hard and I can't even start
It's a war in there
It's a war in there
And you peacemakers go to the same place as soldiers
If you wanna make peace, well, you gotta find the pain
You bring your words but you're just like them, you're unprepared
'Cause you don't know the terrain
It's a war in there
It's a war in there
And don't you know I'll never give you a medal
Made back on stateside in the central time zone
The one that they pin to the outside, to the outside
And it leads you all the way home
It's a war in there
It's a war in there

But you can hold me now
You can hold me now

The Dave Brubeck Quartet was an American modern jazz group formed in San Francisco in 1951 by jazz pianist Dave Brubeck (1920-2012). In what became known as the band's classic line-up, the band featured Joe Morello (1928–2011) on drums, Eugene Wright on bass, and Paul Desmond (1924-1977) on saxophone. The band remains best-known for their use of odd time signatures, and were a premier group in the cool jazz movement. They produced several standards, including Take Five and Blue Rondo à la Turk.
