Jailhouse Rock Lyrics

Goin' to a party in the county jail
Prison band was there and they began to wail
Kid is shakin' and began to sing
You should've heard them knocked out jailbirds sing
Let's rock, everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin' to the jailhouse rock
Spider Murphy sittin' on a block of stone
Little Joey blowin' on a slide trombone
Come on, Silly Willy, don't you be no square
If you cannot find a partner, use a wooden chair
Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Dancin' to the jailhouse rock
Shifty Henry said to Bugs,"For heaven's sake
No one's lookin', now's our chance to make a break"
Bugs turned to Shifty and he said, "Nix nix
Wanna stick around awhile and get my kicks"

Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Dancin' to the jailhouse rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Everybody in the whole cell block
Dancin' to the jailhouse rock

Brownsville Station was a band from Michigan that was popular in the 1970s. One of its earliest hits (1970) was called "Bebop Confidential" with song writing credits given to band founder Cub Koda. However, Gene Vincent recorded it in 1956. The song was called "Be Bop a Lula". This is probably why BS omitted it from their various anthologies. Their most famous song, "Smokin' In the Boys Room" (from their 1973 album Yeah![1]) was recognized as one of rock's earliest teen anthems, featuring angst filled lyrics, blaring guitars and a harmonica solo.
