Java Jive Lyrics

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the java and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup
I love java sweet and hot
Whoops, Mr. Moto, I'm a coffee pot
Shoot me the pot and pour me a shot
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup
Oh, slip me a slug from the wonderful mug
And I'll cut a rug 'til I'm snug in a jug
A sliced up onion and a raw one
Pour one, waiter, waiter, percolator
I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the java and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup
Boston bean, soy beans
Green bean cabbage and greens

Now I don't care about a bean
Unless it is the chili chili bean, boy
I love coffee and I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the java and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, yeah
I love java sweet and hot
Whoops, Mr. Moto, I'm a coffee pot
Shoot me the pot and I'll pour me a shot
A cup, a cup, a cup
Curl me a slug of the wonderful mug
An I'll cut a rug 'til I'm snug in a jug
Drop a nickel in my pot, Joe
Takin' it slow, waiter, waiter, percolator
I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the java and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, boy

The Manhattan Transfer is the name of two incarnations of an American vocal group, with Tim Hauser being the only link between the two groups. The group’s name comes from John Dos Passos’ 1925 novel Manhattan Transfer and reflects their New York origins. The first group, established in New York City in 1969, disbanded after producing a single album, Jukin’ (1971). This article focuses on the second line-up which was set up in 1972 and is still together. It is famous for mixing jazz, big band, and popular music styles.
