John Doe Lyrics

It's the middle of the day and we both have thrown a fit
The TV is on but neither one of us is watching it
Now your problem is every time my pager go off, I don't pay it no mind And my problem is every time the phone ring
You'll go get it and you'll run and hide
Now if its two people between us that don't exist
And we're both going to go on lying
Ain't nothing good about that in this thing, baby
We both guilty of the John Doe crime
Who was the guy that paged you?
I don't know
Who was the guy that waved at you?
I don't know
Who was the guy that called you?
I don't know
Who was the guy that I saw you with?
I don't know
How did you get some extra money?
I don't know

When I needed some you told me
I don't know
Is this love affair over?
I don't know
Tell me his name
John Doe
Yeah, I know this thing started out all good
But remember when you didn't have a dime I did what I could
Took a chance and put you on my account
Now you flossing some female showing the amount
That's why I trip on shit like your pager
All in my face blowing up and you'll get it later
And the reason I run in the room with the phone all the time
Because of you, I'm guilty of the John Doe crime
Now who was the girl that paged you?
Oh I don't know
Who was the girl that called you?
Oh I don't know
Who was the girl that waved at you?
Oh I don't know
Who was the girl I saw you with?
I don't know
How did you get some extra money?
Oh, I don't know
When I needed some you told me
Oh, I don't know
Is this affair over?
I don't know
Tell me her name
Damn, Jane Doe
Who was the guy that paged you?
I don't know
Who was the girl that called you?
Oh, I don't know
Who was the guy that waved at you?
I don't know
Who was the girl I saw you with?
I don't know
How did you get some extra money?
I don't know
When I needed some you told me
Oh, I don't know
Is this love affair over?
I don't know
Tell me his name
Damn, John Doe
Who was the guy that paged you?
I don't know
Who was the girl that called you?
I don't know

Public Announcement, originally known as MGM, is an R&B and hip hop group formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1989 by R. Kelly. After releasing a single for the local Tavdash label in 1990, they eventually signed with Jive Records in 1991 and released their debut album, Born Into the '90s, in 1992. Led by Kelly, the group scored hits such as She's Got That Vibe, Honey Love, Slow Dance and Dedicated, eventually reaching a million copies going platinum. After a tour, Kelly left the group to start a solo career that continues today, whereas the group was suddenly left in limbo after his departure. They scored their only Top 5 hit without Kelly in 1998 with Body Bumpin' Yippie-Yi-Yo, from the album All Work, No Play. This album featured Felony Davis taking over for Kelly. In 2000, they scored another Top 40 hit with Mamacita, from their eponymous album on Epic, but it wasn't as big as any of their Kelly-led hits. There were rumors around 2004 that Kelly was looking to produce a new album with the group, but nothing has yet come of it.
In 2006, Public Annoucement released their fourth album "When The Smoke Clears" on their own label, Boss Entertainment, through Fontana Music/Universal Records. After a short hiatus to pursue solo interests, Earl, Glenn, Feloney, and Mar-K are working on a follow-up album, expected to be released in 2011.
