There must be something special about a band when they single handedly bring a label back from extinction...

Hailing from a storied hometown in the hardcore music scene shrouded for years in mystery, violence and rumors (some true, some not), Aftermath of a Trainwreck emerge with a mission and a purpose. Combining elements of old-school hardcore, metal, and massive breakdowns that Salt Lake City bands are known for, they take it one step further by blending them into an energetic, exciting and downright brutal musical experience matched by few others in hardcore today.

Not many bands stand behind what they say in a genre where the fakes are often revealed and ridiculed, and those who choose to abstain from drugs and alcohol are either laughed at or they give it up in a year. Aftermath of a Trainwreck is a refreshing change giving hardcore kids everywhere a reliable sincere outlet of anger and opposition.

Aftermath has wasted little time blazing a trail. Shortly after forming, they gained the attention of New Age Records owner Mike Hartsfield. At that point New Age Records wasn’t even a functioning label.
“I love hardcore but at that point in my life none of the bands I was seeing were making me want to give the label another go.” Hartsfield states. “When I saw Aftermath I was completely blown away. I realized that if this is the kind of music that Aftermath is doing, that’s reason enough to get New Age up and running. I have a lot to thank these guys for. Not only are they a great band but they’re great people too.”
New Age VP of Operations Evan Jacobs states, “If you love hardcore and by that I mean real hardcore, not something manufactured by an entity with deep pockets, it’s very hard not to be drawn to a band like Aftermath. Seeing them reminds me of how I felt when I first saw bands at the Reseda Country Club. They epitomize why I got into hardcore back in 1990.”

Signing to New Age Records in December of 2004, their debut, full length CD “Horseshoes & Hand Grenades” is already putting them on the map. At Both Ends Fanzine raves “my favorite record label in the history of hardcore.” CoreDeath Fanzine states “Not only a triumph for hardcore but the metal genre too!” And BulletEyes Monthly says, “Every so often a band comes into your life at just the right moment… Aftermath of a Trainwreck is that band.”

Currently touring to support their new record, Aftermath of A Trainwreck show no signs of slowing down. At a time when many bands seem to have their eyes on a bigger prize, Aftermath just want to play the music they love and play it as much as possible.

Since the band split up in August, members have split off and started other bands like Cool Your Jets. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
