Fauve! Gegen a Rhino (Beast! against a Rhino) is a project born in July of 2009 uniting two bands. ‘Fauve! and Rhino Therapy.
They became a duo.
Andrea and Riccardo are from Pistoia, a few miles north of Florence in Italy and at 20 years old are producing music that sounds like it’s been written by much more mature brains. A stunning mix of experimental deconstructions that emerge harmonious and unique. Fauve! Gegen a Rhino is post war music, the next one. They’ll turn back, primitives of the future amongst open Gordon Matta-Clark’s buildings, bohème beasts that will struggle vs. a prehistoric rhino in a dionisiac liturgy for the possession of Goodness.
Outsiders following their own path in the knowledge that no one else is doing the same, on the opposite side of their peers listening and musical habits, way away from indie music but, instead, in a beguiling relationship with contemporary experimental sounds, like philosophers Deleuze and Guattari embarking on postmodern adventures that attempt to create new forms of thought, writing and subjectivity.
‘The music that we’re trying to make is “afterwar music”, that is a conception of all past influences that dialogue together. The “afterwar” condition is the group of rubble of history, thought, and art.’
Their first album titled Geben was released in 2009 followed by Namegivers' Avenue released by Tannen records in 2011 that achieved many positive reviews (Blow U, Ondarock, Rolling Stone, Sentire Ascoltare, Alias, Rumore) and interviews (Radio Ca' Foscari, Radio Sherwood).
In the past they had many collaborations with DD/MM/YYYY, Tom Greenwood (Jackie O' Motherfucker), Iosonouncane, the opening of Yona Friedman's exhibition titled Projects for Venice, and a very important collaboration with british land artist Chris Drury for a performance (Physis) in Artesella and Mart dedicated to his work Mushroom Cloud.
The long awaited new album will be in the form of a trilogy of EPs collectively called (Polemos Trilogy) is due for release on Bedevil in June 2012
