Ornette Coleman, a true genius who created a new vocabulary for jazz in the 20th century, and Pat Metheny, an ardent admirer and an influential force in his own right get together for their first recording session in 1985 to create Song X. Ornette Coleman, no stranger to collaborating with electric guitarists, and Pat Metheny, a powerful improviser on electric guitar and guitar synthesizer combine forces with Charlie Haden (bass), Jack DeJohnette (drums), and Denardo Coleman (drums and percussion) put together a unique sound.
