Key To The Highway Lyrics

I've got the key to the highway
I am bound to go
I'm gonna roam this highway
Till my dying dayWhen the moon peeks over the mountain
Honey, I'll be on my way
I'm gonna roam this highway
Till my dying dayGive me one more, one more kiss, mama
Just before I go
'Cause when I leave here, baby
I won't be back, no, I won't be back anymoreTo the highway
Oh, Lord, I'm out and bound to go
I'm gonna leave here running
'Cause walking's much too slow

Charlie Segar was a blues pianist and occasional singer who is best known for the blues standard Key to the Highway in 1940. Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Segar has been dubbed the "Key Board Wizard Supreme".[1] He relocated to Chicago, where he made recordings with other blues artists, such as Bumble Bee Slim and Memphis Minnie, as well as being the featured artist.[1] "Key to the Highway" is one of eight known songs Segar recorded under his own name between 1934 and 1940 for Decca and Vocalion.
