Kings of the Western World Lyrics

I have an old friend, so the story goes
He never calls without saying hello
He's got a good job, so the story goes
He says, "It's funny to see you look so low"I said, "I'm on top of the hill
Looking down at the kings of the western world"I went out and caught the train home
Looked at the land, so the story goes
They've got factories and jobs and playgrounds provided
And the workers are willing, so the story goesBut I'm on top of the hill
Looking down at the kings of the western world
The western worldThey're sayin'And people get born, so the story goes
People get schooled, so the story goes
And people get on, so the story goes
And people get ruled, so the story goes
And people they die, so the story goes
And left on the hill, so the story goesBut I'm on top of the hill
Looking down at the kings of the western world
The western worldI'm looking at the kings
I'm looking at the world

I'm looking at the kingsI'm looking at the kings
I'm looking at the world
I'm looking at the kings
I'm looking at the worldI'm looking at the kings
I'm looking at the world
I'm looking at the kings
I'm looking at the world

Deacon Blue is a Scottish pop band formed in Glasgow in 1985. Their name came from the title of the Steely Dan song "Deacon Blues". Success came for the band in 1989 when their second studio album, When The World Knows Your Name, topped the UK Album Charts. The album included "Real Gone Kid" which became their first UK top ten single. After releasing further albums in 1991 and 1993, they split up in 1994. Five years later, in 1999, the band held a reunion gig and this led to the album, Walking Back Home. Since then they have released Homesick (2001) and The Hipsters (2012).
