Kite Lyrics

Come up and be a kite
Beelzebub is aching in my belly-oh
My feet are heavy and I'm rooting in my wellios
And I wanna get away and go
From all these mirror windows
I look at eye level, it isn't good enough
And then I find it out, when I take a good look up
There's a hole in the sky with a big eyeball
Calling me
Come up and be a kite
And fly a diamond night
A diamond kite, a diamond kite
Ooh, what a diamond
A diamond kite, on a diamond flight
Over the lights, under the moon
Over the lights, under the moon
Over the moon, over the moon
Come up and be a kite

I feel a rush along my body like a bullet
I'm 2D, after a push and pull feelin'
And I wanna get back to safe home
I love the homeland dome
I got no limbs, I'm like a feather on the wind
I'm not sure if I wanna be up here at all
And I'd like to be back on the ground
But I don't know how to get down, down, down
Come up and be a kite
And fly a diamond night
A diamond kite, a diamond kite
Ooh, what a diamond
A diamond kite, on a diamond flight
Over the lights, ooh, under the moon
Over the lights, ooh, under the moon
Over the moon, over the moon
Come up and be a kite
Come up and be a kite

Kendall Jane Meade, who swaps time between New York and her native Detroit, has carved out a glowing reputation on the indie pop circuit. As vocalist for the band Juicy in the '90s, she made autumn-colored rock with titles like "Detroit Skies" before heading out for a solo career as Mascott. 2001 brought her debut album for Birmingham's Le Grand Magistery label. It was a quiet record loudly acclaimed by critics. Dreamer's Book is a worthy descendant of Follow the Sound. It's a delicate but resplendent record that displays a contemporary cool take on '70s singer-songwriter pop.
