Lady Revisited (feat. Angelique Kidjo) Lyrics

She gon' say
She gon' say I be lady-o
She gon' say
She gon' say I be lady-oOh, African man don't you know
With a fist, your love don't show
Take my hand let's leave this valley
Use your strength and love to guide me
I'm your lady, I'll be your queen
Try to harm me, you'll hear me scream
I gon' say
I gon' say I be lady-o
I gon' say
I gon' say I be lady-oOh African woman, strong and free
Remove yourself from misery
If he can't see the power in your soul
Gather all your pride and go
Raising babies, always a queen
Try to harm her, you'll hear me scream

She gon' say
She gon' say I be lady-o
She gon' say
She gon' say I be lady-o

Somi is a U.S. singer and songwriter of African extraction. Born in Illinois to East African parents, Somi and her six siblings began to shuffle through the life of a diplomat scientist-cum-university professor’s family, thus exposing Somi to stories and music from all over the world. Having lived in Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania, upon moving to New York City Somi was the featured vocalist in the African Globe Theatre production of Drums under the African Sky. This led to collaborations with Amel Larrieux, Tsidii Le Loka, Roy Hargrove, Lionel Loueke, and Lonnie Plaxico.
