Last Hope's Gone Lyrics

(Instrumental verse x 2)Yeah, I'm gonna tell you a story, that you don't want to hear
Baby, I'm wanna tell you a story, one that you don't want to hear
Because it's about you, and you're losin', baby
And the end is drawing near.Well, if you don't understand, there's no reason for me to stay on
Yes, if you don't understand, baby, there's no reason for me to stay on.
And I believe in you, woman
But I can't make a stand, so gather 'round.(instrumental verse x 2)Yeah, your mind's been leavin', and your body's stayin' here
Yeah, your mind's been leavin' for a long time, but your body's stayin' here.
And all this talkin' I've been doin', baby
There ain't a word that you can hear.Yeah, there's no flowers by this river, and there's no grass growin' around
Yeah, there's no flowers by this river, and there's no grass growin' around
Yeah, there's no water down by this river
And there's nobody makin' a sound.(instrumental verse out)

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was signed to Elektra Records after adding Michael Bloomfield as lead guitarist. Their original debut album was scrapped, then re-recorded after the addition of organist Mark Naftalin. Finally, their self-titled debut, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, was released in 1965. It had an immediate impact, serving as a wakeup call for a generation of musicians. {...the above is a pathetic and perfunctory facsimile of the biographical tribute this illustrious band deserves.
