Lawdy Miss Clawdy (Solo Piano Alternate Take) Lyrics

Well, lawdy, lawdy, lawdy Miss Clawdy
Well, you sure look good to me
Well, please don't excite me, baby
I know it can't be meWell, I give you all my money
Yeah but you just won't treat me right
You like to ball every mornin'
Don't come home 'til late at nightI'm gonna tell, tell my mama
Lord, I swear, gal
What you been doin' to me
I'm gonna tell everybody that I'm in miserySo bye, bye, bye, baby
Gal, I won't be comin' no more
Goodbye, little darlin', down the road I go
Oh, goodbye, bye, bye, baby
Gal, I won't be comin' no more
Goodbye, little darlin', down the road I go

James Carroll Booker III (December 17, 1939 – November 8, 1983) was a New Orleans rhythm and blues pianist, organ player and singer, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Booker's unique style combined rhythm and blues with jazz standards. Musician Dr. John described Booker as “the best black, gay, one-eyed junkie piano genius New Orleans has ever produced.” Booker was the son and grandson of Baptist ministers, both of whom played the piano. He spent most of his childhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where his father pastored a church.
