Lazybones Lyrics

When all the limbs are numb and clean
And you're in transit, dream to dream
I'll drift there to meet you, lazybonesWhen all the world has lain and sank
And money sleeps inside the banks
I'll drift there to meet you, lazybones, lazybonesCameraman sways to remember how the eye dances
Drunkenness is a hand-held, scrambling down Delancey
I come stumbling, well I hear you had to take a shine
And firing at random, I hear the rays fell upon mineCool you, Miss Amaze with a handful of water
Trucks encircling, bearing down, coming louder
If I could stay here, under your idle caress
And not exit to the world and phoniness and peopleLazybones
LazybonesWhen all the noise has left your head
Will someday you rise off the bed?
I'll be there to lift you, lazybonesLazybones
Lazybones
Lazybones
Lazybones

Soul Coughing was a New York-based alternative rock band. The band found modest mainstream success during the mid-to-late 90's. Soul Coughing developed a devout fanbase and have garnered largely positive response from critics. Steve Huey describes the band as "one of the most unique cult bands of the '90s ... driven by frontman M. Doughty's stream-of-consciousness poetry, Soul Coughing's sound was a willfully idiosyncratic mix of improvisational jazz grooves, oddball samples, hip-hop, electronics, and noisy experimentalism (described by Doughty as 'deep slacker jazz').
