Leaving Las Vegas Lyrics

Life springs eternal on a gaudy, neon street
Not that I care at all
I spent the best part of my losing streak
In an army Jeep from what I can recallOh, I'm banging on my TV set
And I check the odds and I, and I place my bet
I pour a drink and I pull the blinds
I wonder what I'll findI'm leaving Las Vegas
Lights so bright, palm sweat, blackjack on a Saturday night
Leaving Las Vegas
Leaving for good, for good
I'm leaving for good
I'm leaving for goodUsed to be I could drive up to Barstow for the night
Find some crossroad trucker to demonstrate his might
These days it seems that nowhere is far enough away
So I'm leaving Las Vegas todayLeaving Las Vegas
Lights so bright, blackjack on a Saturday night
I'm leaving Las Vegas
I'm leaving for good, I'm leaving for good

For goodI'm standing in the middle of the desert
Waiting for my ship to come in
But now no Joker, no Jack, no King
Can take this loser hand and, and make it winI'm leaving Las Vegas
I'm leaving Las Vegas
For good, for goodI quit my job as a dancer at the Lido des Girls
And we're dealing blackjack until one or two
Such a muddy line between the things you want
And the things you have to doI'm leaving Las Vegas
Lights so bright, palm sweat, blackjack on a Saturday night
Leaving Las Vegas
I'm leaving for good, leaving for goodOh, I'm leaving Las Vegas
And the lights so bright, palm sweat, and the blackjack on a Saturday night
I'm leaving Las Vegas
I'm leaving for good, I'm leaving for goodI'm leaving Las Vegas
Lights so bright on a Saturday night
Leaving Las Vegas
And I won't be back, no, no
No, won't be back, not this time

Rubicava formed near Birmingham in January 2010 out of the ashes of the recently disbanded Dead Letter Office. Initially set up with six members, this quickly became four which has remained the lineup since.

After a couple of months gelling and preparing for gigs, an unfortunate set of circumstances threatened to break apart the band before it had really got going. An injury to drummer Karen Jones meant that it was not possible to continue for at least a time period of at least 6 months.

Adament not to let it break them, they took the time to step back and write a large number of new sounds and really find their sound.

After much thought, discussion and deliberation the band and Karen parted ways on good terms in October 2010. Shortly after Matt Bennett came in on drums.

The band spent the remainer of 2010 and the first six months of 2011 honing their sound, writing and gigging. Midway through 2011 the band recorded a 5 track live EP which was released for free online to fans and loyal followers.

In the dying months of 2011, the band began working on self recording their debut album was due for release in Q1 of 2012.

The bands first album, Get Well Soon, was released May 2012 and the initial pressing sold out within weeks.

On the 20th August 2012 the band released their second single "No More Dreamers" for free as a thank you to all fans.
