Lifesaver - Staireo

Staireo is a indie rock band from Skövde, Sweden.

The core of what was to eventually become the mighty Staireo was formed in 1999 by James Wendt (vocals, guitar) and David Billing (bass). They soon found their ultimate partners in crime in Sebastian Forslund (drums) and Coma (guitar). The chemistry was there right from the beginning, which is evident even on the band’s first demos, recorded that same year.

Staireo’s highly unusual combination of superb songwriting (think catchy, driving, but always with an unexpected twist) and outstanding live performances soon made them a force to be reckoned with far beyond the city limits of the small town of Skövde in Sweden where they once was formed.

In 2000, after winning Sweden’s biggest music competition Musik Direkt, Staireo caught the attention of renowned producer Sven Lindvall, who, apart from giving their recordings that extra push over the edge, also helped them land a management deal with Michael Dixon (Gaia Music Management), a collaboration that still continues to this day.

Since then, Staireo has played over 300 shows on four continents. In 2004 they released their debut album “Staireo” on Embryo Records & Pyropit Records (Avex), which received rave reviews all over the globe, and made Staireo hordes of new fans. The EP “ Telemania” (2006, Pyropit Records, Avex) further established their reputation as one of Sweden’s finest rock bands.

And now, in 2007, the time has finally come for their eagerly awaited second album. Aptly titled “Multi De La Tjossa”, this masterpiece was recorded at Soundtrack Studios, Finland, and produced by Nick Triani and Wolsey White (Hard-Fi).

For the first time, the electrifying energy of Staireo’s live shows has been captured on tape, which, along with the fact that the band has evolved even further as songwriters, will make 2007 the year when Staireo conquers the world, and the sound of rock music as we know it will soon be just a memory.
