Line in the Sand Lyrics

This news wont break my heart
Its already been blown apart
I feel like a helpless girl
In this tender troubled worldAnother bomb lights up the night
For someones vision of paradise
But its just a wasted sacrifice
That fuels the hate on the other sideAll in the name of a holy land
All to claim a line in the sandOh, but the promised land
Is just across another line in the sand
Yeah but the promised land
Is just across another line in the sandJust like at Calvary
Soldiers do the bidding of their king
And dreams are lost one at a time
Blown across both sides of the lineYou cant kill a giant with just one stone
You cant erase the story of a familys home
A hate-filled heart still beats alone
Walking on that endless roadAnd theres so much blood on all our hands
It cuts an even deeper line in the sandOh, but the promised land

Is just across another line in the sand
Yeah but the promised land
Is just across another line in the sandI hope a forgiving rain will fall sometime
And wash away that lineOh, but the promised land
Is just across another line in the sand
Yeah but the promised land
Is just across another line in the sand

Lucy Kaplansky (born 1960) is a folk musician. Originally from Chicago, at the age of 18 she moved to New York City, where she became involved in the city's Greenwich Village folk music scene. In 1983, she decided to become a psychologist, enrolling in Yeshiva University. She continued playing music while completing her PhD, and began to have some success as part of a duo with Shawn Colvin. However, when they began to attract record company interest, Kaplansky declined, choosing instead to set up a private practice and become a staff psychologist at a New York hospital.
