Ugly Lion is a six-piece progressive reggae
band from Dallas, Texas. Although Ugly Lion debuted
May of 2009, the band’s core members have been collaborating for
several years. The foundation of the band is a collective
of six musicians, who as longtime friends have
come together to create
music with a conscious message.

After building a local following through live
performance and extensive self-promotion, the band
released their first EP, “The Ugly Truth” in July 2009.
Following the release, the band embarked on several
regional tours building a statewide fan base in a few short months.
This hard work caught the attention of a local filmmaker,
eventually leading to Ugly Lion starring in a
commercial for a local bar and grill.

Realizing their growing popularity, the band
dedicated themselves to booking, promoting, and
funding their endeavor, including creating the opportunity to share
the stage with one of the most popular reggae acts in the
world today. This sold-out show is still known
today as one of the most successful
events the venue has ever seen.

Having gained local respect and popularity, the
band went on to professionally record and release
their second EP “Roots of Revolution” in January 2010.
Ugly Lion is currently touring the country in support of that
release, quickly building a following in every city
they hit. Energized by the widespread positive reception of
their message, the band is heading to Nashville
to record the follow-up to “Roots of Revolution”
with acclaimed producer Robin Eaton. Ugly lion continues to move
forward writing, recording, and touring spreading
a conscious message through reggae music.
