Love Comes In Spurts Lyrics

I was a child
Who wanted love was so wild
Though tight as slow motion
But crazed with devotion
Maybe insane with devotion
Just a whole other notion
I was fourteen and a half
And it wasn't no laugh
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts and I like it 'cause
Love comes in spurts, oh no
I just can't get wise
To those tragical lies
Though I now know the facts
They still cut like an axe

'Cause love comes in spurts
In dangerous flirts
And it murders your heart
They didn't tell you that part, baby
Love comes in spurts, oh no
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts, no way
I just can't get wise
To those tragical lies
Though I now know the facts
They still cut like an axe
Baby, love comes in spurts
In dangerous flirts
And it murders your heart
They didn't tell you that part
Love comes in spurts, oh no
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts. oh no, oh no, oh no
Love comes in spurts, oh no it hurts
Love comes in spurts. it always hurts
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts, oh no, it hurts
Love comes in spurts, oh no, oh no

The Neon Boys were formed after Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine dropped out of school and wound up in New York in the early 1970s. Here they found drummer Billy Ficca and recorded a self titled single in 1973, which has been described as the 'first punk rock single' (preceeding the more popular choice of The Damned's 'New Rose' by three years).
The Neon Boys never played live due to the absence of a second guitar player.
