Automatic Dlamini was a band formed by British musician / songwriter / producer John Parish in 1983 and first releasing The Crazy Supper EP (Jun 1986). At various times, members included: Rob Ellis, Ian Olliver, Jeremy Hogg, writer / journalist Giles Smith, Andy Henderson and, from 1988, Polly Jean Harvey. The band split in 1991 and their final album was From a Diva to a Diver (1992).

Other albums included The D is for Drum (1987) and Here Catch Shouted his Father (1989, unreleased). In 1988 Automatic Dlamini was one of the first Western European bands to tour Eastern Europe.

Harvey was later well known as PJ Harvey. Parish, Ellis, Olliver and Hogg, all later performed with PJ Harvey. Parish is also now well-known for his work with Eels and Tracy Chapman. Henderson went on to join Echobelly.
