Mandarim Lyrics

Por amor tudo o que eu sofri
O problema foi meu
Pudera
Não cuidei de mimEu fiquei sempre a espera
De uma primavera
Um eterno jardim
Mas o amor nunca foi assimFoi por isso que eu me perdi
O que achei que era amor
Não era
Isso foi ruim
Quando o amor solta a fera
Desfaz a quimera
Desmancha o festim
É o primeiro sinal do fimQuando o amor gira a esfera
Quem não se supera
Cai do trampolim
Sente dor, desespera
E o amor não se altera

Que nem manequimMas agora eu já me rendi
Que no peito é o amor que impera
Ele é o mandarm
Só queria, ai quem dera
A paixão mais sincera voltar
Ai de mim
Mas perdi meu amor sem fim

Chico Pinheiro, born 1974, is an exciting young composer and guitarist from São Paulo, Brazil. He began teaching himself guitar and piano at age 7 and later attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, studying with legendary teachers Mick Goodrick and Hal Crook and winning several academic/ musical prizes there during his studies. Not only an exceptional guitarist with a wonderful sound and great fluidity, Chico Pinheiro is a unique composer of originality and maturity, qualities that stand out on his solo recordings.

His first album Meia Noite Meio Dia (Sony Music) was released in 2003 with great reviews at all the most important newspapers and music magazines in Brazil and abroad, and was included in the 'Top 10 Brazilian albums of the year' in the major newspapers of Brazil: 'O Estado de São Paulo', 'A Folha de São Paulo' and 'O Globo'. This well-received debut included performances from special guest vocalists Luciana Alves, Lenine, Ed Motta, Chico César and Maria Rita.

His second release, Chico Pinheiro (Biscoito Fino/ 2005) enjoyed great critical and audience acclaim, once more being included in the 'Top 10 Brazilian albums of the year' by newspapers 'O Estado', 'O Globo' and 'Folha de São Paulo'.

The third album, NOVA, was released in december/ 2007, a collaboration with the american guitarist and composer Anthony Wilson. Again, enjoyed great critical and audience acclaim.

Today Chico is already a remarkable presence in - and outside the Brazilian music scene, who has distinguished himself as a guitarist, composer and arranger.
He's performed and recorded with Brad Mehldau, Rosa Passos, Chico César, Dori, Danilo Caymmi, João Donato, Marcos Silva and Mary Fettig among others.

He cites a number of influences: Miles Davis, Chopin, John Coltrane, Jackson do Pandeiro, Tom Jobim and João Gilberto.

About Chico Pinheiro latest album There's a Storm Inside: Throughout, Pinheiro's charms as a guitarist, composer and vocalist are hard to resist. Imagine a young Chet Baker, with Luiz Bonfa's chops and Marcos Valle's aching sense of melody , and you get a record that will have you surrendering with a 'Yes, yes, yes'.
