Marianne Lyrics

California's come and gone now I got my mind back on
The open air and you on highway one
Baby, ever since that day I've tried to get back to the place
Where everything was right under the sun
Oh, Marianne, Marianne, I said, "Marianne I'm waiting"
Saturday took you away, Sunday morning brought the rain
The cloudy skies are covering the blue
Why'd you have to disappear? It's not the same without you here
When everything's reminding me of you
Marianne, Marianne, Marianne I'm waiting to see you again
Marianne, Marianne, Marianne I'm waiting to see you again
Would you come back? Won't you come back?
'Cause I'm waiting, I'm waiting
Would you come back? Won't you come back?
'Cause I'm waiting, I'm waiting to see you again
Marianne, Marianne, Marianne I'm waiting
Marianne, Marianne, Marianne I'm waiting
To see you again, to see you again

Marianne, Marianne, Marianne

Hamilton H. Gilkyson III (June 17, 1916–October 15, 1999), better known as Terry Gilkyson, was an American folk singer, composer, and lyricist. He may not be well-remembered today but his influence on pop music and folk music is significant. Terry and the members of his group, The Easy Riders, made contributions as songwriters and performers. Along the way they left us with songs that are very familiar to anyone who listened to music in the 50s: "Marianne" and "Memories Are Made of This".
