Marionette Lyrics

I'm scared to break it down and start from nothing
tried selling out cuz I wanna be somethingI'm on top of the world and I don't know it yetI changed my mind, changed my heart, changed my life for you
you said it all before the fall, I'm fucking done with youMy hands are tied behind my back and I'm breaking outYour time is up, my time is now
It's in the air can you feel it
my life is finally in my handsBurn like a cigarette
I'm not your marionetteI ran away to escape your nightmare
you say you care but I know you don't fight fairAnother promise on the list that I knew you'd breakI changed my mind, changed my heart, changed my life for me
I said it all, put up a wall I'm doing this for meI cut the strings above my head I bet you're freaking outI never want to live a life of lies again
believing what I'm feeling, I hear it loud and clear

Leonard Joseph Tristano (19 March 1919 – 18 November 1978) was a jazz pianist, composer and teacher of jazz improvisation. He performed in the cool jazz, bebop, post bop and avant-garde jazz genres. He remains a somewhat overlooked figure in jazz history, but his enormous originality and dazzling work as an improviser have long been appreciated by knowledgeable jazz fans. In addition, his work as a jazz educator meant that he has exerted a substantial influence on jazz through figures such as Lee Konitz and Bill Evans.
