Mind's Eye (10th Anniversary Version) Lyrics

In my mind, I can see Your face
As Your love pours down in a shower of grace
Some people tell me that You're just a dream
My faith is the evidence of things unseenIn my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
In my mind's eye, in my mindYou know what I'm going through
I know this is true, 'cause You stood in my shoes
Desires inside of me, but it's hard to believe
In what you cannot seeCan you catch the wind?
(Catch the wind?)
See a breeze?
(See a breeze?)
Its presence is revealed by the leaves on a tree
An image of my faith in the unseenIt's in my mind's eye
I see Your face
You smile as You show me graceIf in my mind's eye
You take my hand
We walk through foreign lands
The foreign lands of lifeIn my mind's eye, in my mind's eye

In my mind's eye, in my mindIn my mind, I'm where I belong
As I rest in Your arms
And like a child I hold on to You
In my moment of truth, yes I doWe can ride the storm
(Ride the storm)
Endure the pain
(Endure the pain)
You comfort me in my hurricane
And I'll never be alone againIt's in my mind's eye
I see Your face
You smile as You show me graceAnd in my mind's eye
You take my hand
We walk through foreign landsYeah, in my mind's eye
I see Your face
You smile as You show me graceAnd in my mind's eye
You take my hand
We walk the landsIn my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
In my mind's eye, in my mindIn my mind I can see Your face
Love pours down in a shower of grace
Life is a gift that You choose to give
I believe we eternally liveFaith is the evidence of things unseen
People tell me that You're just a dream
But they don't know You the way that I do
You're the one I live to pursueCan you catch the wind?
Can you see God, have you ever seen Him?
I've never seen the wind
I seen the effects of the windBut I've never seen the wind
Can you see the breeze?
There's a mystery to it'Cause in my mind's eye
I see Your face
You smile as You show me graceAnd in my mind's eye
You take my hand
We walk through foreign landsIn my mind's eye
(Oh, Lord I can see Your face)
In my mind's eyeIn my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
(I see You there again)
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
(I know You'll meet me there my friend)In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
(I know You're there, I can touch You there)
In my mind's eye, in my mind's eye
(I want You there, I need You there
(I see You there, I know You care)
And I believe, and I believe in You
And I believe, oh, yeah

dc Talk is made up of Toby McKeehan (TobyMac), Michael Tait, and Kevin Max.

The three met while they were young men at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. They formed the band dc Talk (a reference to Washington D.C., but later marketed as 'decent Christian talk' by their label) and, as of the year 2000, spent twelve solid years together, performing all over the world, recording 6 albums, and earning many awards, including 4 Grammy awards.

Their music, aimed at a younger audience, combined hip-hop, rap, and R&B sensibilities and filled a gap in 1980s Christian Music and gave them a unique niche. Their first three albums, dc Talk, Nu Thang, and Free At Last started from their rap/hip-hop roots but increasingly included melodic vocal rock influences. Their 1995 studio album, Jesus Freak, continued this musical evolution by eshewing almost all rap elements and adopting a harder modern rock/grunge sound on many songs, especially the title track. Their most recent studio album, Supernatural, draws on their previous efforts while moving towards mainstream pop stylings.

Their signature sound in all albums is their use of the three members' different vocal skills separately and together. They are often lauded for their lyrical sophistication, addressing many themes in Christian theology, faith, and practice.

After more than ten years together as a group, they are taking a break in recording together to pursue their own activities outside of the band, and launch solo careers in recording music. Michael Tait formed his own band, Tait, and has most recently served as the frontman for Newsboys. Toby McKeehan has released music under the name TobyMac, and has been the most sucessful of the three. Kevin Max has released two solo albums of his own.
