Mud and Dark Lyrics

Echo fell in love with the handsome narcissus
Narcissus struggles who heard walking
It was the nearest to perfectionIs anyone here, here, here?
Come, come, I will beg you
Before I give you power over me
I give you power over meAnd that remains her fate, always her voice echoes
And that remains her fate, always her voice echoes
Still repeating only what others have said
Still repeating only what others have saidNari cuss we both are ugly
For I dreamt for him to find, hold
A lovely face in the reflected imageConstrued by the futile
Befallen to have his affection
It turned her so so slowly wasted
I know you didn't come to me to lay hereAnd that remains her fate, always her voice echoes
And that remains her fate, always her voice echoes
Still repeating only what others have said
Still repeating only what others have saidAnd that remains her fate, always her voice echoes
And that remains her fate, always her voice echoes

Still repeating only what others have said
Still repeating only what others have saidAnd after that she hoped to come as he said
He's found it funny, they all want to piss on her
And she repeated the same words to themAnd echo's flesh has always start all again
And she bows down to starve to death
Oh, but she isn't thinking this before sinkingIs anyone here, here, here?
Come, come, I will die
Before I give you power over me
I give you power over me

Cocteau Twins were an innovative and influential Scottish dream pop band. Forming in 1979 in Grangemouth, Scotland, UK (the name taken from an obscure song by fellow Scots Simple Minds), they built a sound based on woozy atmospherics and singer Elizabeth Fraser's unmatchable vocals, most of which featured lyrics of made-up words and words plucked at random from the dictionary. Their first release was "Garlands" in 1982 on 4AD Records, which was received well. Founding member Will Heggie left the group in 1983 and soon joined fellow Grangemouth band Lowlife.
