My America Lyrics

Church bells go ringing for you and I
This bright sky is singing for you and I
All the land goes laughing into that glad goodbye
All the land goes laughing into that glad goodbyeOh, my America
My new found land
Oh, my America
My new found landChurch bells go ringing, strangers cry
People keep bringing their sad, sad smiles
Time won't even listen to why we had to lie
Time won't even listen to why we had to lieOh, my America
My new found land
Oh, my America
New found landListen to the wave crash
Listen to the wave on the wide soundShe's far and she's wide and she's one small step away
She's far and she's wide and she's one small step awayChurch bells keep ringing for you and I
We rush, we live, we laugh for some time, night
These green fields and roads go rolling in your eye
These green fields and roads go back and back and backOh, my America

My new found land
Oh, my America
New found landMy, my America
New found land
My sweet America
New found landSweet, sweet, America
Sweet, sweet, America
Oh, my America
New found landOh, my America

Deacon Blue is a Scottish pop band formed in Glasgow in 1985. Their name came from the title of the Steely Dan song "Deacon Blues". Success came for the band in 1989 when their second studio album, When The World Knows Your Name, topped the UK Album Charts. The album included "Real Gone Kid" which became their first UK top ten single. After releasing further albums in 1991 and 1993, they split up in 1994. Five years later, in 1999, the band held a reunion gig and this led to the album, Walking Back Home. Since then they have released Homesick (2001) and The Hipsters (2012).
