New Shoes Lyrics

From version by Foghorn Stringband on Music City Roots video
Oh now if you’re goin down to New Orleans, baby won't you take me with you
Oh cuz I can't stand sittin’ around wondering what it is that you do
Oh now it seems the way you talk to me ain't like the way you used to
And if things down here don't straighten out, I’m gonna buy myself some new shoes
CHORUS 1
I’m gonna walk away from your heart
I’m gonna sing my way back home
do-an-do-an-do
Oh now Louisiana and Baton Rouge, Newton Town, I sing the blues to you
Oh and so I call you on the telephone to find out you're not all alone and I’m blue
Oh so I walk on down to the five and dime to buy some shoes and start to look real fine today
Oh and I got my head up high and I never cry or carry on that way

CHORUS 2
I’m gonna walk away from your heart
I’m gonna sing my way back home
I’m gonna walk away from your heart
I’m gonna sing my way back home
do-an-do-an-do
Mandolin and fiddle solo
Oh now Louisiana and Baton Rouge, Newton town, I sing the blues to you
Oh I call you on the telephone, I find out you're not all alone and I’m blue
Oh so I walk on down to the five and dime, I buy some shoes and start to look real fine today
Oh and I got my head up high and I never cry or carry on that way
CHORUS 3
I’m gonna walk away from your heart
I’m gonna sing my way back home
I’m gonna walk away from your heart
I’m gonna sing my way back home
Ooooh I’m gonna walk away from your heart
Yes I’m gonna sing my way back home
Ooooh I’m gonna walk away from your heart
Yes I’m gonna sing my way back home
do-an-do-an-do

Portland-based musician. Currently affiliated with the Foghorn Stringband, but played with Calobo throughout the 90's. Caleb Klauder’s warm sound, authentic and familiar, feels all at once contemporary and vintage, as though it’s coming from the porch next-door. Raised between Orcas Island, Washington and Little Cumberland, Georgia, Klauder took his first steps in Knoxville. If his music could invent a genre, it would be New-school Americana, infusing old standards with Northwestern attitude and spinning out modern classics made elegant with Southern charm.
