Nobody Right, Nobody Wrong Lyrics

They say you got to choose your side and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrong
It ended in a great big fight and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrongConflict each and every day at home and in the streets
And in my soul every way
It's hard to keep the faith when I feels so far away
Times I feel connected, times I'm runnin' awayBut whoa, whoa, can't you see
All the sickness, hunger and poverty?
War on the land and war on the seas
Whoa, war is a painful thingOne argument that none of us can hide
Is the one that's ragin' down deep inside
Tryin' to make a point or have the last word
But most the time people just tryin' to be heardThey say you got to chose your side and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrong
It ended in a great big fight and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrongBut how many people never ever broke a rule
And how many people tryin' to get their kids to school
And how many people pray they only find a job

And how many people are afraid of gettin' robbedBut whoa, whoa, nobody knows
And whoa whoa, only God knows
Numbers escalate, Wall Street, crime rate
From the Baghdad streets to my city by the bayHey, they say you got to chose your side and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrong
It ended in a great big fight and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrongAnd I say can you say what you mean
And can you mean what you mean what you say?
Can you say what you mean
And can you mean what you mean what you say?
Can you say what you mean
Every single day? Whoa, whoa, whoaReach out a hand to somebody who needs a hand
And reach out a heart to somebody torn apart
It's hard, this livin', this life we've been given
Locked in your soul or locked up in prison
Remember you got to reach high to be risen
The day you let go is the day you are forgiven, soThey say you got to choose your side and when it's done
Nobody right, nobody wrong, nobody right now
Nobody right, nobody wrong, nobody right, nobody wrong
And I say one man got a jet fighter and the other got a song
Nobody right, nobody wrong

Michael Franti is a gifted and much-heralded spoken word artist and political activist from San Francisco, CA. As leader of the politically and socially-charged group Spearhead, Franti is at the forefront of hip-hop's renaissance, expanding the music's boundaries as he draws on funk and soul-driven beats. Through his music and poetry, Franti tackles a range of issues--the criminal justice system, corporatization of our daily lives, AIDS, gay rights, homelessness, the death penalty, drug addiction and suicide.

His project Spearhead produced the critically acclaimed Home in 1990. The album contained his biggest single, "Hole in the Bucket," a thoughtful lament on the plight of the homeless, and "Positive," which addressed the growing AIDS epidemic. The album boasted adept funk samplings, sinuous guitar vamps, and soulful, melodic tracks about family and social injustice. 1997's Chocolate Supa Highway was not as pop-friendly as Home, but neither did its themes of kidnappings and police brutality lend themselves to such overt accessibility. Its mixture of harsher musical styles -- techno, rock, and funk -- was a step forward for Franti as his world view broadened and deepened. In 2001, Franti released Stay Human. In it he expresses his anger at the system, his advocacy of love, and his belief in freedom through individuality and self-expression through a set of songs that revolve around a fictitious death penalty case. In it, his embrace of the genres that inspired him is achieved with eloquence.

Earlier projects of Franti include The Beatnigs and The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy, which had more of an experimental/industrial sound, but addressed many of the same social/political issues.

As a celebration of the Election of Barack Obama Franti recorded the Obama Song, offered as a free track on downloaded at their offical website, www.michaelfranti.com/.
