Nothing Like This Lyrics

I dance, I laugh, I smile
I drink, I kiss, go wild
I take advice from all my friends
who say that I should start again
forget about you
but I don't know how to
they say
time heals so I'll wait
it tell me that it‘s gonna get better
but I'll meet someone
who’s gonna help me forget ya
so many broken hearts get fixed, yeah
but they must have been nothing nothing nothing
must have been nothing nothing nothing
must have been nothing nothing nothing
nothing like this
it steams, it hurts, it aches
it never goes away

and every day when I wake up I pray that I fall outta love
forget about you but I don't know how to
they say
time heals so I'll wait
it tell me that it‘s gonna get better
but I'll meet someone
who’s gonna help me forget ya
so many broken hearts get fixed, yeah
but they must have been nothing nothing nothing
must have been nothing nothing nothing
must have been nothing nothing nothing
nothing like this
it‘s like we're talking about rain drops
when I'm leaving in a hurricane
it's like I'm talking about aftershocks
when I‘m standing in the earthquake
time heals so I'll wait
it tell me that it‘s gonna get better
but I'll meet someone
who’s gonna help me forget ya
so many broken hearts get fixed, yeah
but they must have been nothing nothing nothing
must have been nothing nothing nothing
must have been nothing nothing nothing
nothing like this

J Dilla was born James Dewitt Yancey on February 7, 1974 in Detroit, Michigan, to Maureen and Beverly Yancey. From the onset, music was intrinsic to Jay's life. His mother Maureen was an accomplished singer and lover of classical music and opera. His father Beverly was a gifted vocalist and bass player fond of vocal harmonies and jazz, who played professionally for 25 years before taking a job at Ford. A two-year-old Jay would gurgle along in perfect pitch to the sound of his father practicing on his upright bass until it lulled him to sleep.
