Hailing from Athens, Ohio, the Ohio University Marching 110 began in 1968 under the direction of Mr. Gene Thrailkill. The '110' originally referred to the number of band members; Although the band has expanded in numbers, they've kept the name which now stands for the percent effort each member is expected to give.

The 110 has had some notable performances, such as...
-1968 Tangerine Bowl
-1976 Carnegie Hall*
-2000 and 2005 Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade as well as a Broadway performance.
-NFL performances for: Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Toronto Argonauts, Jacksonville Jaguars.
-1996 Inaugural Induction for President Bill Clinton
*The 110 was the first college marching band to perform in Carnegie Hall
- The Marching 110 marched in the 121st annual Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1st, 2010, in Pasadena, California.

One misconception is that when one hears 'Ohio University Band', they automatically think of Ohio State's Band. An example of this is the incorrectly labeled performers for Crazy Train. Ohio University played this song, Ohio State did not. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
