Out on My Own Lyrics

I think Ive outgrown my home
Im kind of feeling lost wherever I go
And I could be staring it right in the face and I wouldnt know
I think Ive outgrown my homeI have a song in my heart
And just like life it has a middle, an end, and a start
And who knows if Im on the path if Im walking in the dark?
I have a song in my heartIm happy just to float
Wherever this river flowsIm just finding my feet, pounding the street, hoping that someday it will come
And Ive got to leave, write my own tragedies
Keep my old bridges there to burn
Leave all doors open, I dont know if Ill return
Im out on my own
Heading out on my ownAll of the faces I have seen,
Are lacking kindness and familiarity
And all of the eyes I have known have gone cold and turned to stone
All of the faces I have knownIm happy just to float
Wherever this river flowsIm just finding my feet, pounding the street, hoping that someday it will come
And Ive got to leave, write my own tragedies

Keep my old bridges there to burn
Leave all doors open, I dont know if Ill return
Im out on my own
Heading out on my ownIts not the end
No its just the change
My worlds gone cold
And my lifes turned grey
I need some shelter through my darkest days
I know Ill be back some dayIm just finding my feet, pounding the street, hoping that someday it will come
And Ive got to leave, write my own tragedies
Keep my old bridges there
Im just finding my feet, pounding the street, hoping that someday it will come
And Ive got to leave, write my own tragedies
Keep my old bridges there to burn
Leave all doors open, I dont know if Ill return
Im out on my own
Heading out on my own
Im out on my own
Heading out on my own

Gabrielle Aplin is the whipsmart teenage sensation with spirit in her voice and ability to bottle melodic lightning who, at 14, wrote her first song, Ghosts. At 17, she made it the title track of her first EP. At the same age, she set up her own label, Never Fade Records. Soon she had landed herself a booking agent and was plotting her own tours round the UK. By 18 she had released two further EPs and was running a profit making DIY artist’s enterprise – with plans already afoot to plough those profits back into other similarly inclined musicians she’d encountered along the way.
