Pay Attention Lyrics

Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society watch me while I do itYo, yo, I buck shots, lick shots, take shots, give shots
Headliners know, this year we switch spots
Check it, I spit it for the righteous and the wretched
First came the live show, next came the recordsWith wax collectors with rap perfectors
With scratch, with dance, with graf protectors
Worldwide travelers in your sector
DJ Babu, come down selectorI raw here, I explore here, you like that
Where that comes from there's more there
This is warfare and we score fair
We don't stop till our flag swings in your airI rap to build or I rap to ruin
Your whole career, yo, watch what you doin'Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Pay attention)
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Watch and observe)I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Pay attention)
Watch me while I do it, watch me while I do it

(Watch and observe)Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do itYo, yo, I'm a poet with the warrior spirit inside
Chokin' rappers out like hicks on and pride
We all share the same sun givin' us light
But remember, sink or swim, time winnin's a fightExpansion team takes rows, takes oceans, takes flight
Then takes over the stage till the morning breaks night
Word of mouth crew, make sure we pay right
Then Hendrix takes over my body, I blaze micsSpray 3-D outlines and highlights
I know lowlifes that are livin' the high life
At great heights, I exercise my rights
So much smoke, when I'm this high, I sky-writeRaaka raps to build or raps to ruin
Your whole career, yo, watch what you're doin'Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Pay attention)
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Watch and observe)I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Pay attention)
Watch me while I do it, watch me while I do it
(Watch and observe)Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do itI rock hills and valleys, rap shows and rallys
Record stores and schools, live shit from Cali
Take it to the people, cut out the middle men
Like Chuck said, "I don't rhyme for the sake of riddlin"I rap to build or I rap to ruin
Your whole career, yo, watch what you're doin'Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Pay attention)Watch me while I do it, watch me while I do it
(Watch and observe)
Let me tell you somethin'
I'm 'bout to set it off, society, watch me while I do it
(Pay attention)U.K. y'all, U.S.A y'all
Japan y'all, Japan y'all
France y'all, France y'all

Dilated Peoples is a hip-hop group that has achieved great fame in the underground hip-hop community, although their only real mainstream success was the song This Way, a 2004 collaboration with Kanye West.

DJ Babu (from the DJ crew Beat Junkies), Evidence, and Rakaa joined together in 1992 in Los Angeles, CA and released Third Degree and Work The Angles, which were quickly established as favorites in the underground scene and among rap critics. They eventually signed to Capitol and in 2000 released The Platform, to more critical acclaim. Their sophomore set Expansion Team was released in 2001, led by the Alchemist-produced single Worst Comes To Worst, which sampled from Mobb Deep's Survival Of The Fittest. Their third album, Neighborhood Watch, was released in 2004 and debuted at #55 on USA's Billboard 200 Albums Chart. In addition to the Kanye West-produced single, This Way, it also featured the single Who's Who?, which was also included as a track on the Need for Speed: Underground and SSX 3 soundtracks, and peaked at #35 on the UK Singles Chart.

In 2006, they returned with the single Back Again, produced by The Alchemist. The trio's fourth album, 20/20, debuted on February 21, 2006.

In 2007 they released The Release Party. This package included a feature-length documentary on DVD as well as EP featuring new songs and remixes. The film, released through Decon, is a celebration of the release from their contract with Capital.
